DIY Starbucks Shaken Iced Tea

So anyone that knows me knows that I am ADDICTED to the iced green tea from Starbucks. I finally cracked the recipe so that it tastes just like the real thing! I will give an alternate to buying their classic syrup if you want to save a little money!

There are two boxes that the tea comes in.

Regular tea bag packs in a box of 24 for $5:

Or a more loose leaf tea version is $8 and comes in a metal tin of 15:

The Classic syrup is $13 and comes in a jug like this:

Depending on the type of tea bag you buy will depend on how many to use.

You will need:

2 L water

8 bags of regular Tazo brand zen tea or 4 of the loose leaf tea bags

Starbucks classic syrup OR make your own simple syrup

For the simple syrup:

1 cup sugar

1 cup water

Directions:

Boil 1 L of water then add the tea bags into the water and let steep for 4 minutes.

Remove tea bags and fill with 1 more L of water.

Cover and chill in fridge

To make the simple syrup, add 1 cup of water and 1 cup of sugar into a separate pan. Stir the sugar into the water and bring to a boil until the sugar has completely dissolved in the water. Let cook and the mixture should thicken. Store in a container in the fridge.

To make your drink fill glass half way with tea. Add 2 TBPS (if venti sized) of either classic syrup or simple syrup. Fill remainder with tea, top it off with water and shake.

The passion tea also comes in the same types and uses the same amount of tea bags as zen so feel free to substitute the zen for passion.

Enjoy!

*Adjust the syrup to your liking and depending on the size of the glass*
